　　這是2004年播放的『新選組』以來第二部講述幕末時代的作品，也是2005年的『義經』之後第二部宮尾登美子的原作。

　　一方面，據說篤子是從齋彬處帶著政治使命被送進江戶城的。就將軍的後繼問題，當時幕府分為推崇一橋慶喜（德川慶喜）為次期將軍的一橋派，和推崇紀州慶福（德川家茂）為次期將軍的南紀派，兩派互相對立，齋彬為了讓慶喜繼承將軍而將篤子送入了德川家。但是，與當時是藩主的實子的廣大院相比，篤姬自身只不過是島津家分家的出身，一橋派大名處也有「作為御台所身份也太低了」的置疑的聲音。公仔箱論壇& i' l+ m2 p1 o# y4 e+ H
　　安政3年（1856年），篤姬成為了右大臣近衛忠熙的養女，這一年的11月作為家定的正室進入了大奧。但是，安政5年（1858年）7月齋彬突然死亡，8月家定也離開了人世，14代將軍由德川家茂就任，篤子沒有能完成使命。家定死後篤子剃髮，以後自稱為「天璋院」。
6 ^' [$ L* _7 q5 e7 u( Btvb now,tvbnow,bttvb　　幕府為了促進公武合體政策，文久2年（1862年）朝廷決定將皇女和宮作為家茂的正室送入大奧。薩摩藩向天璋院提出住回薩摩國，但天璋院拒絕歸國。另外，當初進門的和宮與天璋院是一種「嫁姑」的關係，而且由於皇室出身和武家出身的差異使得兩人有著種種不和，但據說之後和解了。
, o- Z% s# a  ~# D; S　　根據勝海舟等人的描述，天璋院對自己一手扶植並確立的將軍候補德川慶喜的關係十分險惡。慶應2年（1866年） 針對慶喜的大奧改革，天璋院與在德川家茂死去之後號稱「靜寬院宮」的和宮一起進行了抵制。另一方面，慶應3年（1867年）由於慶喜對朝廷進行「大政奉還」的直接後果也就是從江戶幕府解散到江戶城無血開成的整個過程中，為了營救德川家和慶喜全力對自己的娘家島津家做工作，同時和宮全力做了朝廷的工作。 www.tvboxnow.com* V. Y* g' Q3 u0 M. |$ X; p
