The Water's Edge
Salty scents and frigid cold air,
Wafted through the Park.
Kids are laughing, hooting and chasing,
To the still water’s edge.
The stone on which I slept upon,
Turns cold, ice-like.
Water seeps into the stone,
To the still water’s edge.
The freezing rain whips my face,
Ice water blades cutting my face.
The ice melts and seeps away,
To the still water’s edge.
I look around, into the skies,
The leaves and the seasons pass me by,
The rain and dust fall unto dry earth,
To the still water’s edge.
The seasons pass,
Through night, through day,
Always changing with the water that flows
To the still water’s edge.
Now I see the ice-cold winter,
It’s salty scents and frigid cold air.
The water that seeps through the earth
To the still water’s edge.
