BOSS WARY OF INSIDE KNOWLEDGE
Rafa Benitez admits Bolo Zenden and Djibril Cisse's inside knowledge could give Marseille a tactical advantage on Wednesday night.
The Spaniard believes Zenden in particular has a detailed understanding of the way Liverpool approach continental football.
"It's normal for any player who leaves a club to want to play well against them," said Benitez. "We know Cisse can score goals and this will be dangerous for us, and Zenden is a player who knows everything about the game.
"He knows our tactics, so maybe we need to change things! Hopefully the rest won't know so much so we can surprise them.
"It's clear they know us because they were working with us for two or three years. They know almost everything, but we have changed some players and some tactics, so we can still surprise them."
Meanwhile, Benitez insists his players can take nothing from the fact Marseille are struggling in 17th in their domestic league.
"I watched some of their league games and they were not playing well, but then in the Champions League they played much better. This is a different competition for them, and an important one.
"It will not be the team who are having problems in the league." |
