MSI MS7599 motherboard can only use DDR3 memory ...
but just want to let you know if you try to install Window Vista 64 bit...
you going to have a lot of driver problems such as RAID, AHCI controllers, etc.

(If I were you, I will spend a little more money to get a bigger monitor becuz 18.5 is just not enough, I am using dual(2) 24 inches ViewSonic HDMI1080P ... hehe)

hehe ... somehow I like AMD better than Intel.      <--- AMD!!!
I know the problem for AMD's CPU is HOT! it gets very hot when playing some newest 3D games.
A super strong CPU fan and heat sink is need for using AMD.

But when installing AMD's CPU, I don't need to worry about memory.
On the other hand, Intel's CPU gets very picky on choosing the right memory ... some cheaper brand memory
won't works with Intel's CPU.
Well, that just my experiment from all the years computer repairing.

Sorry hong231, didn't mean any offense. I was just sharing my experiment ...

And I totally agree what you said, Intel Core 2 Quad should be alot more faster than AM3 Phenom-2 710 Tri-Corex3 due to the differences between the cache of the processor.
But what I am try to point out on top is when choosing memory for those processors.
